Marilyn R. Onnen
Eureka- Marilyn Rose Onnen, 83, of Eureka, IL passed away at 1:12 pm on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Maple Lawn Homes in Eureka where she was a resident.
She was born on May 17, 1927 in Eureka, IL a daughter of John and Merna Chalfant DeWilde. She married Clarence Onnen on August 5, 1945 in Benson, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Steve (Sally) Onnen of Eureka, IL; Dan (Diane) Onnen of Naperville, IL; one daughter, Julie (Tim) Miller of Eureka, IL; six grandchildren, Jill Fehr, Scott, Brandon, and Matt Onnen; Austin and Zach Miller; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John and Gene DeWilde; and one sister, Annette Ladendorf.
Marilyn was a member of the Eureka Women’s Club where she had served as president for many years and the Eureka Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Benson, IL and in later years attended the Eureka Methodist Church. She had many interests and hobbies including cooking, baking, playing the piano, interior design and traveling. Marilyn was known for making beautiful quilts. She belonged to the Eureka PEO and bridge clubs and loved to play cards and games with her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 14, 2011 at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Rev. William Hecht and Rev. Ron Martz will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Burial will be in the Roanoke Township Cemetery.
