Letty P. Dunn Bloomington- Letty P. Dunn, 84, of Bloomington, passed away at 3:27 pm on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal. She was born on January 17, 1927 in Vincennes, IN a daughter of Lyle and Maribelle Griffith Phillippe. She married Jack W. Skinner on February 19, 1949 in Des Moines, IA. She then married James R. Dunn on April 17, 1976 in Bloomington, IL. He survives. Also surviving are her children, Maribelle (John) Waters of Jenson Beach, FL; Neva Jane Wert of Normal; and Edwin Jeffrey Skinner (Mary Beth Whren) of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Brian James Wert of Normal, McKinsey and Maggie Skinner both of Gridley, and Letty (David) Driscoll of Winter Springs, FL; two great grandchildren, Kira and Cole Driscoll; two sisters, Rachel (John) Cassell of Walnut Creek, CA, and Caroline (Lane) Densen of Nashville, TN; and two nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Donald Elliott Skinner; and one brother, Keller Phillippe. She graduated from Springfield High School in Illinois in the class of 1949. She then graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield. She worked for years at the Mennonite Hospital in Bloomington as a registered nurse, and then she worked at Heritage Manor in Bloomington. Letty was an active member of Centennial Christian Chruch in Bloomington. Letty enjoyed life and laughter she loved to read and swimming. She enjoyed traveling and being with her family and friends after retirement. Letty was a friend to all who knew her and the “cool” mom in the neighborhood. She will be dearly missed by all of us. A celebration of life service will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. The family will receive friends following the service at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman from 5:30-7:00 pm. According to her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Private family burial will be at a later date in Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the Donor’s Choice. We would like to express thanks to the staff at Heritage Manor in Normal for their wonderful care during the last year of Letty’s life. We would also like to thank Dr. Kneezel and the staff at Illinois Heart and Lung for the good care they have provided for a long time. Our special thank also to the staff at Advocate BroMenn for the kindness and care they provided Letty.
